On the fortieth anniversary of Anna Banti's death, this article explores the work of Anna Banti as a Caravaggio scholar, following two lines of inquiry: the first part analyzes Banti's works (letters, art writings, and stories) that discuss Caravaggio; the second part compares Caravaggio's artistic output with Banti's literary output, suggesting a connection between the painter and the writer based on the indissolubility of life and art/literature.
