The paper explores the relationship between Dacia Maraini and the mythological figure of Antigone, exploring how the Italian writer reinterprets this female archetype in her work and in her feminist thought. In particular, it examines how Maraini, starting from the figure of Antigone - who opposed patriarchal power through an act of non-violent piety - develops a critique of female subordination in patriarchal society and proposes writing as a tool for resistance and social change. The essay analyses themes such as the control of the female body, motherhood and the relationship with religious and political power, noting Maraini's contribution to contemporary feminism through a commitment that goes beyond ideological categories to embrace a broader mission of social justice.
